Parnitha National Park
Description
Hikers will find a network of marked paths at the Parnitha National Park, which is located at Mt. Parnitha in the north of Athens. On the base of the mountain (which reaches a height of 1,413 meters) is a cable car taking passengers to the casino and Hotel Mont Parnes, which offers a spectacular view of the city. The funicular station is the starting point for marked hiking trails. Another hiking route begins at the Moni Kliston Monastery and follows the Goura Gorge to the rock-climbing site at Arma and to Pan Cave where the god Pan was worshiped thousands of years ago. The park has a rich flora and fauna and is one of the most exciting national parks of Greece.
