Banff's best meal
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/06/2005
We live in Calgary, and visit Banff almost monthly. We've eaten at a lot of places, and Coyote's wins our "favourite" prize. The food is Southwest influenced (American southwest, that is), as is the decor. It is fresh, and the quality impeccable.
We've tried a broad variety of meals at Coyote's, and LOVE the chicken corn tortilla soup. Outstanding. They'll bring you a basket of bread: don't bother with the foccacia; focus on the blue corn bread. Wow. We often share the chorizo pizza and get a couple of caesar salads if we're not in the mood for a full entree. The steaks and fish are both excellent.
We often request to sit at the six-seat counter, which faces the open-concept kitchen. It's a great place to watch Coyote's very talented chefs work their magic.
If you have room, the deserts are amazing.
The prices are moderate by Canadian standards (soups/salads $6, steaks $25, pizzas $18).
You'll definitely need a reservation most days. Make the call.
