Description

This restaurant is an institution in Banff. The interior looks as if it was carved from the inside of a tree, with highly varnished wooden walls hung what looks like an entire herd of buffalo heads. The bizarre menu specializes in expensive fondue dinners featuring a veritable menagerie of meat: beef, ostrich, buffalo, rattlesnake, alligator, venison to name a few. The wine list features over 100 selections including a special list of Canadian wines. Dinner at the Grizzly House is an event to remember.

Not a nice day out.....

The service is extremely bad. Ok when it is busy but still, you can serve your customers a little bit better. The smell of your clothes after a visit to The Grizzly House will stay for days and that is not very nice for tourists that don't have time to go to the dry cleaners.

Best... fondue... ever...

This is one of my favorite restaurants. Go for the full fondue dinner. If you like fondue, you'll LOVE this place. Has some crazy types of food you can try (rattlesnake, shark, bison), but I usually just stick with the beef, chicken or shrimp. Try the hot rock to cook your meat, and the vegetable fondue (better than the cheese fondue).

A WILD experience in Banff

This is a fondue restaurant so come with plenty of time to spend and a hearty appetite. I've yet to find a fondue joint that serves up snake, boar, and venison. The atmosphere is really cool and makes a trip to Banff that much more special.
