Suda

Description

This longstanding and extremely popular open-air restaurant is featured in several Bangkok guidebooks. It stands out due to its large dining area and garish orange seating. Suda attracts a good crowd at night, drawn by the low prices, a huge range of dishes, and the very friendly owner. Alcohol is limited to Bangkok beer and Thai whiskey, but at such low prices nobody minds. Try their fish and meat dishes, especially the roasted and spiced variants that will tantalize your taste buds.

Suda - Best Thai Food On Earth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/2007
My family loves eating and trying out new things especially when traveling. Suda is by far the best Thai restaurant we have ever tried. We went twice on our last visit and nothing really compares. We have tried a number of establishments in Bangkok, both the ones written up in travel books for foreigners and the ones you pass in the streets. This is where you can find no-nonsense, value for money, authentic Thai food. I recommend the following: deep fried white snapper fish cutlet w/ fresh garlic & chili tamarind, deep fried hot fish cake thai style, stir fried tuna w/ basil leaves & chili, stir fried tuna w/ cashews & chili, fried squid w/ garlic & pepper, pad thai, tom yum w/ prawns, fried rice w/ crab meat, fried rice w/ vegetables. A kind reminder, for those who are discerning w/ ambience, this is an open-air mom & pop type of restaurant. No frills at all, emphasis is all on the food. Also, being authentic thai food, some of the dishes may be spicy. Take the BTS sky train and get off on the Asok stop. Suda is a corner eatery in Soi 14. Last we were there, they had Pepsi plastic table covers. Enjoy and Bon Appetit!

Authentic Thai food. some westerners but great thai staff. if you go in a pair the little old lady hostess will just seat you with another pair. she counts up your bill by examining the empty dishes on your table. One of my favorite things about bangkok.
