Service Terrible & Manager Unrepentant
By ,
I wished I'd read some reviews before we went - for a 'treat'. The photographs do misrepresent this hotel, as does the description 'boutique'. Its more a modern conference centre. Breakfast service was terrible - after 25 minutes of waiting my husband's porridge was served cold and returned to the kitchen; 15 minutes later my eggs appeared but still no porridge (let alone his bacon sarnie) - how enlightened, a 'take it in turns breakfast'. After returning that, preferring to eat together, we waited in vain, then left. However, the manager thought this all very reasonable, accused us of lying about the time we went into breakfast in the first place, and thought that payment was legitimate. We ultimately persuaded him otherwise but to say I was astonished by his manner is an under-statement. Wild horses wouldn't drive me to this place in the future.

Crap

Ah, I see that the photograph of the Hotel Felix has carefully screened out the hideous new prison-style blocks that were built on either side of the old building five years or so ago, in an astonishing act of cultural vandalism.

SHOCKING
By ,
THIS HOTEL IS SO OVER-RATED....ITS LIKE A TRAVELODGE. THE ROOM WAS SO DINGHY AND DIRTY. THE SAMPLE WINE BOTTLE ABOVE THE MINI-BAR WAS COVERED IN DUST AS WERE THE BED SIDE LAMPS. I ASKED FOR AN IRONING BOARD AND IRON, THIS WAS BROUGHT TO THE ROOM VERY PROMPTLY, AS SOON AS IT WAS PUT UP IT PROMPTLY COLLAPSED, THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND UNUSABLE. THE RESTAURANT IS AWFUL, WE WERE SERVED UP FOOD COMPLETELY INEDIBLE....THE CABBAGE WAS ROTTEN AND I MEAN COMPLETELY BAD !!! THE RESTAURANT MANAGER APOLOGISED AND ADMITTED HE HADNT EVEN EATEN IN THE RESTAURANT HIMSELF. WE WERE BOOKED IN FOR 2 NIGHTS BUT ONLY STAYED FOR ONE NIGHT, WOULD NEVER GO BACK THERE IN A MILLION YEARS.

All front and no substance
By ,
Stayed one Saturday night at this hotel and can only describe it as poor to average overall. Disappointing view as you drive up the driveway to be greeted with blonde brick motel-like hotel rooms. The room was made up for one person (with the wrong name on the TV) despite two of us checking in. Room service took ages for a small pot of tea and a couple of average sandwiches, but expensively priced. When asked, the barmaid "didn't know" if the terraced was serviced or not, so our G&T on the deck (listening to the heavy traffic) was fetched from the bar ourselves! There were cobwebs in the portholes of the bathroom and an overengineered shower/bath combination, that meant a lukewarm bath and a scalding shower and the light in the bathroom is too dim to put your makeup on in! Breakfast was delivered quickly to the room and was excellent, thankfully. The bed was extremely comfortable and its only redeeming feature. Expensive for what it was - so not worth it.
