Swissotel, Chicago

Wow! This hotel was everything I was looking for and more. I was traveling alone with my two young sons, so it ws important to me that we feel safe and in a secure environment. The room was so clean, comfortable beds, extra nice linens. Extra comforter in closet. So important! Terrific view from our window, we were there the week of St Patricks, had a fun view of the GREEN Chicago River! Fabulous restaurant! A bit pricey but well worth it! Staff and service was impeccable. My 10 year old commented on how "courteous" our waiter was. Surely our hotel of choice from here on, and we have stayed in three other hotels in the downtown Chicago area.

My fiancee got a room here to help celebrate my birthday last July. Upon check in, we told the front desk clerk this, and she upgraded our reservation to a corner room with a river and a lake view, in spite of the fact that we had booked through Hotwire (this is rare-we were very pleased). The room was huge, with a big cushy bed, and the bathroom was among the best I've seen in Chicago. The only problem I had with the place is that we were charged a $25 fee for checking out late (we left the hotel about 10 minutes after check out time, which is noon), which I thought was a bit ridiculous. Other than that, I highly recommend this hotel! :)

I really liked the view from this hotel. We were able to see the fireworks directly from our room! But even further, the service that we received was exceptional and outstanding.

I absolutely loved the Swissotel! The staff was pleasant and accomodating, the decor was very pleasing and the rooms were impeccably clean---which is something extremely important to me. Although our view from the room included a nearby construction site, we had a wonderful view of the Navy Pier fireworks. Our hotel package included breakfast at the cafe as well as tickets to our choice of the Shedd Aquarium or Field Museum, which made our hotel rate an excellent value. There is no question as to where I will stay on my next trip to Chicago.

This hotel was very nice, it is on the far south side of the Magnificent mile. The rooms have a lot of nice furniture but there is so much, that the room seems a little cluttered. If you bring a car or rent one, be prepared to pay a lot to park it here. We barely even used the rental car aynway, just to drive to and from the airport so I would suggest taking the train to downtown. We used taxis the whole time anyway to get around the city, so to save time and money just use the train and taxis! Mini bar a rip off, way too expensive. Pool was on the small side but other than that the stay was a good experience.

I stay downtown Chicago often and was really looking forward to this hotel because I had read so many good things about it. I was completely disappointed. The lines to check in and check out were unmanagable and there was very little customer service from any of the the staff (front desk to gym). I will go back to the Ritz next time. No comparison.
