Old English Pub
Description
A photo of Winston Churchill is on the wall at one end, and photos of cricket, football and rowing at the other. Directly opposite the Tivoli Gardens lies this mini-England that makes you think of a nineteenth-century British pub, with its high ceilings and brass décor. The actual bar counter does date from the nineteenth century, being 180 years old to be exact, and the bartender behind it is almost guaranteed to be English (although not as old).British Empire favorites like Double Diamond, John Bull, New Castle Brown and Caines are sold and The Old English Pub is also the only place in town with Stella draught beer. Many come here to watch football as they promise to show their eager customers everything off Sky TV. If there is not a Premier League match on, then there is live music in the evening.
