Solas, Dublin

Solas (formerly the Modern Green Bar) is an oasis of good food and drink. As you might expect the dominant color is green, nicely offset by cosy reds and an attractive polished wooden floor. The lighting is discreet and the long bar with high stools gives the place the air of a particularly cosy American 50s diner. There is also ample room in a number of comfortable alcoves. The menu served from midday to 8pm includes salads, sandwiches, pasta and excellent Thai curries, and is reasonably priced and vegetarian-friendly. DJs play live here each night offering intelligent ambient sounds. The easygoing door policy and ready availability of seats make it an attractive option for a daytime meal or a good night out.
