Gouverneur is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York, United States. The population was 7,418 at the 2000 census. The town is named after statesman and landowner Gouverneur Morris.The Town of Gouverneur contains a village named Gouverneur. The town and the village are near the southwest border of St. Lawrence County and are southwest of Canton, the county seat. More
