Tanner Trail
Description
Although this trail was named for Seth Tanner, who made improvements to it to have better access to his mine, other prospectors traveled it before. Centuries ago, the Anasazi and Hopi people used this route to travel into the canyon. The trailhead is located at Lipan Point on the East Rim Drive. The trail is between eight and 12 miles in length. It is rocky, extremely steep, lacking shade and water (until you reach the river), and is only recommended for experienced hikers.
