Tusayan Ruin Walk

Description

The word Tusayan is derived from the Hopi term meaning "country of isolated buttes." Located adjacent to the Tusayan Museum, this .2 mile, paved trail is wheelchair-accessible. Sightseers can obtain a self-guided trail brochure at the trailhead. Visible along the way are prehistoric Pueblo ruins, remnants of an ancient people that inhabited the area centuries before the Spanish explorers discovered the canyon. Park rangers lead ruin tours daily; ask at the museum for details.
