Rokutsuboya, Hiroshima-shi

Rokutsuboya, or “Six-Tsubo Shop”, takes its name from its small size, a tsubo being a traditional Japanese measurement. Its emphasis is on good food and a genuine atmosphere, which it achieves through its yatai-style ambiance and the personal cast-iron grills it serves its dishes on. Popular with both businessmen and tourists, chefs are accustomed to instructing first-timers and can provide English menus for international guests. Rokutsuboya serves local sake, shochu, and Kirin and Carlsberg draught beer. If guests are inclined to drink a bit more, they can purchase their own bottle and leave it for future returns through a “keep system”.
