Mount Field National Park
Description
Mount Field National Park is one of Tasmania's oldest and most popular parks with beautiful bushland walks, tiny lakes carved by ancient glaciers, cascading waterfalls and a highland plateau dotted with windswept snow gums and stunted pines. The park has easy access with many good bush walks, including Russell Falls, which takes about 10 minutes. The path passes through a temperate rain forest to a magnificent waterfall dropping 50 meters into a shaded fern-filled gorge. There are many lovely picnic spots and barbecue facilities are provided. In winter, the park is a popular skiing destination.
