Nuuanu Pali Lookout

Description

For an experience that will give you goose bumps, take the Pali Highway to this spectacular lookout, one of the windiest spots on Oahu. Historians hotly debate the legend that says that in 1795, King Kamehameha I, the unifier of the Hawaiian Islands, forced thousands of his opponents to jump from the cliff to their deaths. From the lookout point high among the eerie spires of the Koolau Mountains, you can see a panoramic view of Windward Oahu.

Loved it. The kids were very impressed with the force of the wind. Hold on to kids and loose objects. One shoe flew off my 3 year olds foot and gave my 11 year old a workout chasing it.

I guess this is one of those suggested must-do things while you are on Oahu but in my opinion I would skip it if you're scrimping on time. The view is pretty nice, not spectacular but free none the less. It is very windy up there and there are quite a few signs warning you to take caution with the bees that live up there. Put it this way, the signs are there for a reason. About twenty times some very angry bees flew right into my fiance and I...once, one even flew and hit me right smack on the face. It's like they're warning you to stay away but without having to kill themselves by stinging you. The place was okay but in my opinion the view is not worth the possibilty of getting stung.
