St. Ann's Well Gardens

Description

Near the Seven Dials area, St. Ann's Well Gardens have played host to hundreds of people for many years. They are popular with locals, especially those who enjoy tennis or bowls, as there is something for all ages here. In the wooded area near Furze Hill, there is a well-equipped playground. The Brocke Scented Garden for the Blind is so called due to the beautiful flowers. The cafe serves coffee, teas, soft drinks, snacks, fruit, cakes and ices. One may eat inside, although surroundings are fairly basic. In good weather sit outside and catch the sun.

Don't bother
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/12/2010
It’s lucky they have a guaranteed clientele due to the location as the service is appalling. Staff and owner are rude, wait times are long, food turns up cold that’s if you are lucky enough to get it at all.

Buzzy & Friendly Oasis
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 22/07/2010
I've been a regular at the Garden Cafe for several years - its very welcoming and good for families and old folk alike. It can be noisy with excited kids - but if you accept this the quality of the food and drink is excellent and service is quick. Gets very busy on sunny days - and they cope well with demand. I like to come here during the winter months - on a Tuesday morning when the library bus visits the park - so I can get a book out and take it to the cafe and read with a magnificent cappachino in a big cup and a chunk of delicious homemade cake.

Happy peaceful park with an excellent cafe
By ISOBEL, 21/04/2008
There's a lot that attracts people to this small park - the tennis courts, bowling green, children's play area and above all the beautiful trees, imaginative planting and meandering pathways. The cafe is a welcoming informal meeting place that catches the mood of Hove and has become a hub for the community.

Fantastic Atmosphere and food!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/02/2006
The Cafe is a little gem in the middle of this beautiful park. Modern, airy and clean. Exhibits of local artists are displayed and we found the food and service to be a welcome change from most park cafes which can be tatty and impersonal. A fantastic day out for all the family.

Fab 4 new mums!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/09/2005
Gorgeous park - the actual Well is a real non-event as it's bricked up!, but the spacious park, tennis courts, playground and scented gardens make up for that 10 fold. The cafe is great - large, clean and with a varied exciting menu (unusual for parks in the area) - well worth a visit, especially if you are a group of first time mums who are learning the ropes of getting out & about, as it has ample space for buggy's, baby-change facilities and staff who don't give your buggy the evil eye! (the choccie cake is also good for those earky post partum days!)
