Griechische Taverne, Innsbruck

The Griechische Taverne (Greek tavern) is easily recognised by its half-covered terrace. The Greek-Tyrolean fusion of décor, with straw mats on the floor and car wheels adorning the walls, makes for a laid back atmosphere in which that glass of wine to complement your Moussaka just seems that little bit better. The restaurant is situated in a rather leafy residential area to the west of the city, well away from the regular tourist attractions, meaning the regulars are for the most part locals. The friendly landlord, who claims in all sincerity to be called Dimitri, has a lot on his plate, so to speak - two Greek restaurants in Innsbuck and both are exceptionally busy.
