Description
Originally opened as a social club in 1939, this city center venue is renowned for its musical history. The Beatles and The Rolling Stones both played here in the sixties and memorabilia line the walls. The former had their first audition here when Alan Williams managed them in the Quarrymen. Deceptively small from the outside, it actually boasts five bars and two packed dance floors. The decor is rather unpretentious, and during the week the crowd consists mainly of students, while weekends attract a more mature clientele. Drinks are great value, with a range of special promotions each week. It is more commonly known as 'The Raz'.
