This is not your typical Japanese restaurant. The 80 seat Roka is centered around a Robata cooking grill and even has an elegant cocktail bar. Robata means "with open flames" and that's what most of the menu focuses on. Dishes such as Tempura, Sashimi, Maki, Kushiage, and Robata Niku are what you'll get.
Have been to Roka many times and the food is always, always excellent. We were disappointed this time that it took so long to arrive, but the waiter was very nice. The problem was with the waiter who fetched our coats at the end - he didn't bring my friend's scarf, and refused to let her go and look for it, saying simply 'it's not there'. No apology, nothing. In the end she insisted, and there it was on the floor of the cloakroom, where we'd suggested he look and where he insisted he'd already checked. And still no apology. Still, I want to stress that the food is wonderful so don't be put off my one waiter!
