A slice of movie history on a porcelaine plate
By ,
This hotel had ambience. It had real service from people who seemed happy at their work, happy to serve an who provided a real feeling of welcome. Here I was paying less than for a three star hotel in the UK for the room rate, but getting five star treatment. It was a thrill to walk the halls where the Movie Stars walked in the heyday of Hollywood. The Spa was well appointed and there were enough facilities in the leisure centre to keep any gym freak happy. I loved the Biltmore and enjoyed the slightly quaint bedrooms - so much more to my taste than chrome and plasticwhich is often to be found in some more modern places. The Biltmore is right on Pershing Square, handy for the Metro Station, and the LA Metro Day ticket has got to be one of the best bargains in the US. Not only that, but one of their best kept secrets. $5 a day (as of 2009) for unlimited use of the Metro trains and Metro buses in the LA area...

probably won't return

The public areas are fabulous, but the rooms themselves are not. They're large enough but not well-appointed by modern standards.

Nice Stay
By ,
Stayed at the Millinium Biltmore for 4 days. Room was clean, service was great. Overall, hotel was in the top 10% that I have stayed in. Location was good - about 20 minute walk to the LA convention center. Of course, if you want to get out of downtown and go to Hollywood you'll need a cab.

Great High Tea location
By ,
One of the oldest hotels in the area, very historic. The afternoon tea is great. The food and the tea are both worth a try. Great way to spend an afternoon.

Lost in Time
By ,
If you ever wanted to know what Hollywood was back in the 30's this is the place for you. It is more than a hotel and more like a museum. Whenever I'm in LA I make it a point to stay at the Biltmore, the service is great and the staff is very friendly

I am a member of the Science Hill marching band. Several months ago my band director booked a flight for us to march in the Hollywood Christmas Parade. He had also booked rooms for our band to stay in the Millennium Biltmore Hotel. Just a few days ago we found the the new management of the hotel doesn't think that our student band is good enough for his hotel. He basically told my band director that if we stayed at his hotel it would be his duty to make sure that we had the most miserable trip we have ever had. Not only were we not going to ba able to have the Thanksgiving dinner that we had planned in the contract but we were going to be charged $17.50 for a slice of pizza when we had a pizza party. Yes we are a student organization but that is no reason to basically kick us out of a hotel before we get there. And for the managers info we have already been invited to three other hotels one being a four and a half star hotel.

Great heritage and splendour
By ,
I enjoyed my stay at the Millennium Biltmore. When I was there, there was the massive Chief of Police convention and the whole hotel was full. But the service standard of the friendly staff was never affected with so many people around. The hotel's famous Sports bar and excellent food at the SaiSai restaurant made it all the more enjoyable. Truly a great stay at such a well run hotel with a rich heritage.

Downtown LA's grandest hotel
By ,
A true link to "old LA," for decades the Biltmore was THE downtown LA hotel. It's suffered a bit of late, with multiple owners and some significant earthquake damage in '94, but lovers of classic hotels will still savor the beautiful public spaces where the likes of Clark Gable and Katherine Hepburn used to stroll (the Academy Awards used to be held here in the early days). Rooms are on the small side and not as lavishly furnished as the public spaces would lead you to expect. After all these years, the Biltmore is still a work in progress. If the history means little, the same money might buy you a nicer room in a more modern hotel nearby.
