Sprawling rooms at the W
By ,
I was traveling for business and stayed at the W in Westwood for 2 nights. The layout of the hotel is fantastic for taking advantage of the nice weather in LA. Huge pool deck and bar designed to be great during the day and night. The rooms are all suites so they are huge and well stocked. The service in the hotel was also excellent. The bars are a bit pricey (I guess LA style needs to be taken into account). Overall, very good hotel...probably the best W I have stayed at.

Take heed when you book room...
By ,
If you want to stay in a really nice suite, this W Hotel offers incredible space and it's typical modern decor. Unlike other W's these suites are HUGE with a living area, separate office area, and a bedroom. It feels like a lush corporate apartment. However, make certain that you reserve an upper floor (6+) side or back-facing room to counter the noise levels outside at night. We had a third floor, front facing room that captured valet/waiting line for bar/lounge smoking patio conversations (some yelling at times even) ALL EVENING LONG. Not a relaxing background to our stay. Other than that, the amenities were great. I would definitely return but only under the condition that I stayed towards the pool area in an upper floor room.

You need to be a 'somebody' to get service here
By ,
This hotel is as hip as you can get with the dim lighting and video screens in the elevator. Staff were a tad on the snobby side and not very attentive when you wear casual clothing or sit on your own. I had to ask 3 times to have my dinner order taken by someone and it was not exactly busy. After waiting over half an hour, I finally received my meal only to notice the following day they had charged me twice on my credit card statement. They took several days to sort it out and return my money. Only for the Rich and Famous...

Totally enjoyed this one!

This hotel was wonderful! Nice big suite with plenty of room and the most comfortable bed ever! Everyone we dealt with was very nice and helpful. Within walking distance to shops and dining. Right across the street from UCLA.

Standard W Stuff
By ,
Generally a very good stay. It's got all the elements that makes a W enjoyable. I stayed in a suite, which was large and nicely 'styled'. Sometime certain elements aren't perfect, and it can be expensive, but overall, good stuff.

Too hip for it's own good
By ,
have stayed here numerous times in the past (and at w's all over the world). for some reason, this time the hotel felt like it was trying too hard to be cool. felt more like a club than a hotel. perhaps it's always been like that and i'm just getting older. regardless, won't be staying there again anytime soon.

Another great W
By ,
I am in general an enormous fan of W hotels, and this one lives up to my expectations. The rooms were incredibly hip without losing comfort (i hate it when other places try so hard that they forget we really want to be cozy in our own rooms). The staff was both good looking and personable - also, not always a combination. All nestled in a very leafy neighborhoody area of LA.

a very friendly W .... and very convenient to hollywood..
By ,
loved the friendliness of the staff at this W. california casual, but very responsive to every request. hotel was typical W with the open lobby / bar, atypical in that the music wasn't blaring as you walked through. that was a nice change. room was large one bedroom suite. we'd meant to stay in hollywood, but all hotels there were sold out. the commute over from westwood village was an easy 20 min through beverly hills. very nice ...

Urban chic outpost in Westwood
By ,
What's an urban chic experience like the W doing in a leafy residential area of Westwood, with nary a loft in sight?? No matter, it's close to UCLA and makes no compromises with the classic W approach to minimalist modern luxury. Cushy beds are the best--you will sleep like a dream. Rooms are smallish but well laid out, encouraging cocooning. The only beef is the hefty urban price--you can get a very nice room in other nearby establishments for much less.

Big rooms, nice employees
By ,
Really great hotel that is new and nicely designed. The "Cyber Suite" to which I got a free upgrade was huge (3 rooms!). During a long wait at check-in the front desk staff gave me a free drink at the bar while I waited. Pricey, but worth it.
