Description

There's an old-fashioned air about this traditional-style hotel. The bedrooms are decorated with dark wooden furniture, the floors are carpeted and the colors are sober. The staff are both formal and friendly at the same time. It's well situated if you want to spend your time walking around the old town and the historic sights. Even though it's on a pedestrian street with no traffic in between Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía, it's not very peaceful because of all the noisy shoppers heading up and down Calle Preciados.

Carlos V [Quinto], Madrid
By THOMAS, 06/06/2005
Great location and a very good breakfast for the price. We stayed there for a week and took advantage of all Madrid has to offer. The breakfast held us until the lunchtime 'menu del día' and then wandered around the city sampling tapas for dinner. The staff at the front desk is knowledgable about the city and will help you out. Several of the night clerks did not, however, speak much English. All in all, a very good bargain for the money.

Great location at a great price!
By riddler, 06/06/2005
I stayed at the Hotel Carlos V from 02/15/04 to 02/20/04. I have to say that my stay there was excellent. The room was spacious and was well-equipped. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Their buffet breakfast included tasty and mouth-watering ham, cheese, fresh cut fruits, cereal, and frshly squeezed orange juice and othe juices. Also, I want to mention that the location is great. It's within walking distance to stores (e.g. El Corte Ingles), restaurants, and major attractions (Plaza Mayor, El Palacio Real, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Callao, & Puerta de Alcala to mention a few). The only downside about this hotel is that the keychain is very long and every time you leave the hotel you need to drop it off at the lobby and you pick it up when you return.
But still, this hotel has excellent service. When I return to Madrid, I will definitely book my reservation there.
