This deluxe international chain hotel opened in July 1994, adding 598 rooms to accommodation options in Makati, Manila's main commercial and financial district. The hotel's location within an area packed with a virtually unlimited choice of restaurants, bars and shops makes it ideal for leisure travelers as well. Executive floor guests enjoy a good view of Makati from the Renaissance Club lounge.
Very spacious and nice lobby areas, even if the security seems to be tighter than at an airport..
Good and effective reception.
Rooms are of good standard, and are quite spacious. Location is good, facilities the same.
I wasn't too happy with the restaurant choices.
Check-in was very disorganized, took us more than an hour to get into our room. They would not accept my Visa/ATM card for payment even though I have used the same card at several other hotels in the Philippines and Singapore.
When we got to the room, there were raisins on the floor of the room, probably dropped by a previous guest. The toilet dripped all night and the shower head needed replacing. Also, the shower floor did not have a mat and was very slippery and unsafe. The television had very poor reception until I started checking and found a loose cable connection. Maintenance is obviously very poor.
Also, the only access to the pool is by a steep winding staircase outside the physical fitness center that is not easy for a person like me with a bad knee to use. I have difficulty climbing up and down stairs.
We checked out of the hotel when we were told that they could not provide us with an extra pillow, but would place us on a priority waiting list for a pillow. We were supposed to stay 2 days but checked out after the first day.
If you like a 2 star hotel after you get through the nice lobby, you will love the New World.
What a great place to stay. We were on vacation from DEc 25-Jan 12 2005. The staff were very accomodating, friendly and very honest. My husband misplaced his wallet and not knowing he had left it somewhere in the room. We checked out to go to Boracay for 4 days and we were going crazy looking for the wallet thinking he lost it somewhere else or might have dropped it. We finally gave the hotel a call when we came back from Boracay for our last hope and we were delighted to find out that they were holding my husband's wallet in their safe. Mind you, this had to be found by one of the cleaning people and honest enough to surrender to the front desk. You can just imagine that we didn't think twice to book there again for the rest of our stay. Overall rating was excellent !!!!!
