Description
Unique in Asia, this was a European-style medieval fortified city that functioned as the seat of government from 1571 to 1898. The massive walls stretch some 4.5 kilometers, enclosing a 64-hectare area once occupied by palaces, churches, monasteries, schools and wealthy residences ('Intramuros' means 'inside the walls'). Sadly, the whole city was razed to the ground by bombings conducted by American forces when they recaptured Manila from the Japanese in 1945. Today most of the walls, gates and bulwarks have been restored, affording visitors a glimpse into the past.
IT WILL LOOK GOOD IF SQUATERS AND HOMELESS PEOPLE SLEEP AROUND THE VICINITY WILL BE REMOVE OR RELOCATED..IT DOESNT LOOK SAFE OR DECENT I CANNOT SEE IT AS A TOURIST AREA
hoy, paki bigay yung pondo, para sa viewing ng complete map of the philippines. Kasi yung iba ay colorless at napakabilis ng site.
PS. Blumentritt na ba ang pinakamagandang maiipakita ninyo ?
This place is awesome and really gives you an idea of how the Philippines was in the Spanish Era. A must see for all travelers.
A walk away from Binondo!!
Very impressive photos. Lots of different angles & scenic view of Intramuros and related location. Suggestion for improvement of this site: please provide more photos for other destinations in the Philippines & make photos larger in size for clear viewing. Overall it is excellent!
