The world-class Melbourne Aquarium is a fascinating journey into subspace. Ground level houses coral atolls, shadow dwellers and natural born killers from around the world. On level one is the less scary mangrove swamp, where hands-on activity includes feeding the locals. Subspace 2 is deep sea territory where sharks and other predators prowl inches from your head, literally. The undersea tunnel ends in a theater and a simulator ride, where you can experience a fish's view of life. Riverside cafes and restaurants provide pleasant views and the gift shop sells 'fishy' memorabilia.
