Major Scam - Be Very Careful!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/2005
While the people at the resort are some of the nicest in the world, and the food at the restaurants is very good, there is a lot to beware of at this resort. The rooms are very small, the bedroom has no doors (no privacy) and the furniture is very old. The A/Cs are very old wall units, and the place is very musty smelling.
Maintenance fees ($800+) at this resort are outrageous for what you get (although they will try and tell you that they are the cheapest on PI - sure, compared to Atlantis!), plus there are regular special assessment fees that are generally a tad under $500. They can bill you for these whenever they want. There is also a refurbishing fee of $289 due every five years...only, we never saw any refurbishing! Even if you do not own at this resort, you will be subject to a $19 per person, per night, charge...this is even if you trade.
You can sell this timeshare only if you are prepared to give it away and the buyer is inexperienced at timeshare. We sold ours on eBay for $300 (a good price) and had to pay the resort transfer fee to close the deal. The resort transfer fee is $950...compare to the $125 average resort fee of other places.
Again, nice people, but this is an outrageously expensive place to stay in comparison to what you are getting.
