Emeril's Delmonico New Orleans
This turn-of-the-century restaurant has operated out of an old New Orleans home since 1895. Since Emeril's Delmonico New Orleans' re-establishment in 1997, the restaurant has been in the hands of world-famous chef, Emeril Lagasse. Warm Southern hospitality, as well as memorable food, makes this a popular spot with locals and visitors. As expected, the menu boasts classic items revitalized with Lagasse's inventive style of Creole cuisine. Appetizers include Turtle au Sherry and Emeril's Barbecue Shrimp. Entrees include Pan Roasted Mississippi Farm Raised Quail, Sautéd Rainbow Trout and Hickory Roasted Duck.
My suggestion is: if you want to make a reservation, it's better to call them, don't go there directly! If you go there to make a reservation only and without dressing up nice, they will treat you as a secondary customer.
We made reservation for Friday and we showed up dressing up as instructed by the staff, they told us they have made a mistake and they put us for Saturday at 9:30 pm. We have to wait another 25 minutes for the mistake that the staff made, while we saw bunch of other "more important" customers got their seats first. We didn't get our dinner until 11 pm. Wow!
And one last thing: where was our bread??
Emeril's Delmonico ranks as one of the worst dinning eperiences I have every had. It started with being ushered through the kitchen to our table. We we rushed through our meal. The food? When you pay $200 for a meal you expect something special, not your average tourist trap fare.
Wonderful service and the food was excellent! Next time I will order appetizer, entree, and dessert seperate. There is a chef's tasting menu, that although is wonderful, it is a little over priced compared to what you can order and split on the main menu. Nevertheless, truely outstanding restaurant.
Our party of eight arrived before they opened for the evening. We were allowed to enter, sit in the bar and were treated like family( Royal family). Excellent service, food and ambiance. I have been a chef, culinary instructor, and club manager. Finest dining experience of my life!
My husband and I had made reservations for lunch at 11am at Emeril's Del Monico during our honeymoon. We turned out to be two of the first customers of the day and were jokingly offered an appetizer of Krispy Kremes on a silver platter that were leftover from the morning crew meeting by the waitstaff. Lunchtime is definitely the way to go. Prices were reasonable, portions were ample, and the staff was friendly and polite. We will definitely be back on our next trip.
