I can not believe the review that was sent in about keeping a dog in the room. If I had been there at the same time I would have insisted that the dog be removed. If people want to take dogs on holiday ( for what ever reason) then go into a caravan or a tent not a nice hotel like the ACCRA. We have a dog ourselves so we are not anti pets. 10 out 10 for the night manager getting rid of the dog. We have been to the Accra around 10 times and returned Jan 05 after spending Xmas and new year there. We are back Dec 05 for a month and meeting around 12 people that we meet every year. Can't be that bad. Still you can't please everyone. Let these doggy people try a few pig hotels in Barbados, or better still let them stay away from Barbados. We don't want dogs in the sea etc. I can assure you that the Accra is the best for all round value. We have tried a few ( believe me)don't waste a holiday in beautifull Barbados staying in a dive go straight to the ACCRA.

My girlfriend and I checked in after being evacuated from Grenada after Hurricane Ivan. Her apartment there was destroyed and we were traveling with her small chihuahua (which travels in the in a soft bag in the airplane cabin under the seat in front of us on most commercial flights). When we arrived we explained our situation and though their policy was not to accept pets they would make an exception. We later went out to dinner and upon our return found that they had removed the dog from our room (this dog is not a barker at all) and tied a frayed rope around its neck. They then told us (at around 10:30 after a long day tryiung to get out of Grenada) that we had to leave. The night manager objected to the dog under any circumstances. Not only that, but they were charging me US$50 for the time we spent there. They didn't offer to help us find a hotel or assistance of any kind, perhaps calling a taxi, no, just that we had to leave. Already drained from a long day/week we left and went to the Fairmont Glitter Bay (much nicer and about US$50 more per night.
I just returned to New York to find that they are charging me US$136 dollars which I intend to dispute, but just the thought of it makes me sick.
Anyway, the hotel for the money was really pretty weak. Three channels on the television (including the tourist channel...was hoping to see cnn or bbc news but none of that). The water would not drain from the tub. It was very resort-like (i.e. large and impersonal). There was a terrible band playing in the evening (we thought at first it was karaoke but found out subsequently that it was not. Didn't get to see the beach, but the surrounding area was not great shakes. Trying to look at it objectively, I think there are some better hotel deals around.
Obviously from my subjective point of view, I'd like to see a hurricane destroy this hotel.
