Nice modest accomodations

The location is excellent, the price good by Athens standards, and the staff was generally helpful. Breakfast was decent, some rooms have great views of the Acropolis. This is not a fancy hotel with big elevators and room service and a concierge, etc. but is perfect for those who don't need such amenities.

Recent Stay

We stayed at Hotel Plaka in late June 2004, and overall were very pleased. The rooms were clean and well cared for, with modern bathrooms and air-conditioning, which was a welcome relief after walking around Athens. The Plaka is very near. Recommend Thanasis (just down the street on Mitropoleos) for great (and cheap) souvlaki. The only downside for Hotel Plaka compared to other places we stayed on this trip was that the breakfast was marginal.
