The location is very convenient. The service was okay but improvement required as there was no housekeeping service on a Sunday night. The room was very small. The sofa bed was too soft that you could hardly turn in it. The room could be cleaner. There was hair found on all three of the pillows!!! so as the back of the bed cover. The breakfast... I guess we were expecting too much (althougt it was included in the room charge) for a "continental breakfast" such as some cooked food like egg or ham...
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserFirst: this is unlike any other Travelodge--it may not have been built as one, because the rooms are tiny, even for 4 persons. Some of them are neat, with 4 seperate single beds, two of them bunks, or a double bed and a double pullout. The staff were friendly about us switching around rooms until we liked one. (There were some small annoyances like the bathroom doorknob not locking, or the TV making a high-pitched noise.)
The location is good though, downtown, right on the edge of Chinatown, a couple of blocks away from the convention centre, two subway stations, Old Montréal, a shopping centre connected to several others, and St. Catherine Street.
Not great for families (except for the bunk beds), otherwise ok.
The hotel is in a great location in Downtown. Its a block away from St. Catherine and a 5-10 min walk from Old Montreal. It is also a 10 min walk from Crescent St. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are tiny. However, if you plan to spend most of your day in the city, then this place is fine. The employees are alright, not the best not the worst. Do no take a family here. The rooms are too small for a family of four. I would take a car and park it in a nearby garage. I know they advertise a garage but dont count on parking there. Mostly for employees and early rising guests. Its very convient to park the car and you might use it once during the vist (for the casino and olympic park). Overall, its a nice place. The breakfast is alright, nothing fancy. I enjoyed Montreal. I'm from New England and I was very impressed by the city. If you have money to convert, you can to it in the city. Don't worry about doing it in your hometown. Also, save your receipts and get your refund. Quebec charges 15% tax on everything but toursits can get it all back.
