Kongens Nytorv 34, Copenhagen, 1050, Denmark…
More and Maps
Hotel D'Angleterre is the most prestigious hotel in Copenhagen, if not the whole of Denmark. It is located in the heart of Copenhagen and offers fine views over Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn. This majestic hotel dates back to the 18th century, when it was moved to its present location after being destroyed by fire. The rooms are furnished in classic English style. Guests can access the internet via cable TV.

We arrived at the hotel on Thursday after booking about 3 months in advance. We booked a superior room with an extra bed for our young child. On arrival there was no extra bed in the room, we reported this to reception and they said they would fix it. We then left for the day and when we returned at 8PM, there was still no extra bed in our room. We called reception and after a wait of about half an hour the bed arrived. I then thought I'd treat myself to a nice bath after a long day travelling and visiting the Tivoli, except there was no plug in the bath. I called reception, she said she would contact housekeeping straight away. The plug did not arrive. I went into reception the next morning and again asked about a plug. One arrived during day 2, but it didn't fit in the plug hole. The bidet smelled as though someone had used it as a urinal and my wife had to ask twice before it was suitably cleaned and disinfected. This is not the kind of service you expect in a hotel of this 'quality' and price, but they all pale in comparison to what we found when we returned after a full days sight-seeing on Saturday. Our room was right by the lift and, consequentially, was passed by many tens of people throughout the day. As we walked out of the lift and approached out door we found that it was open and can only surmise that it had stood open for the entire day since the beds had been made by housekeeping some 6 or 7 hours earlier. Luckily nothing was taken although if anyone had gone in, they would have found passports, nintendos, brand new and expensive clothes and accessories. It left and extremely bad taste, we felt as though our space had been violated. This is unforgivable. The hotel is extremely grand and beautiful, our room and bed were both extremely large and comfortable, however, apart from a very small wardrobe for hanging coats and a couple of shirts, there was nowhere to put your clothes, no drawers or cupboards for t shirts, pants and socks, so we all had to live out of our suitcases for 5 nights. I realise that the hotel was built in the days when it's guests would have travelled with their individual Louis Vuitton wardrobe-trunks but this is the 21st century and nobody does that anymore, particularly with the baggage weight limitations. Buy some chests of drawers, there is plenty of space for them. The pool was closed. Finally, on a positive note, the restaurant was excellent. We, though, shall not be staying there again
11 Aug 2008 | A Yahoo! UserBom Hotel. A frente do Hotel tinha bastante lama e acessos dificeis... Enfim ... poderia ser melhor a experiência.
