Plaza de Santa Ana, 14, Madrid, 28012, Spain…

The ME Madrid, formerly known as the Hotel Reina Victoria, has undergone some serious renovations. Located on the once historic haunt of Spain's most famous matadors for over 60 years, it has taken a 180 degree turn in style. Fashionable and chic decor has replaced the classic Spanish motif of the interior, and elaborate bars and restaurants have been added to ensure a booming social center in this rockin' bubble. The sleek design of the rooms feature contemporary furniture, maxi bars, and spectacular views of the Plaza Santa Ana or Plaza del Angel. If you want to experience a more rowdy side of Spain, this is the place to be.

In July of 2004, my sister-in-law and I traveled to Madrid, Spain. We stayed at the Tryp Reina Victoria hotel, a four-star luxury hotel which belongs to the Sol Meliá group. This hotel is located in Plaza de Santa Ana, 14. \nDuring our stay, we were victims of a robbery, all our cash was stolen from the safe-deposit box in our guest room. \nThis type of aggression and crime is unjustified in a four-star luxury hotel which advertises extra security with its in-room safe-deposit boxes, and charges accordingly. After all, guests staying in a hotel of this category, expect a safe, secure and trustworthy environment. \nIn view of these facts, the hotel should have acted immediately, should have reimbursed us the stolen money without delay, and should have made us feel "home away from home", which the hotel management failed to do. \nIf you are planning to stay at the Tryp Reina Victoria hotel, think again. You might want to reconsider your stay at this hotel until management takes its duties seriously, and accepts responsibility for the welfare of its guests, their personal safety, and the protection of their belongings. \nWe suggest that the Sol Meliá hotel chain conducts a total safety/security and property protection quality control of the Tryp Reina Victoria hotel to protect its guests, and thus regain the necessary trust to attract clients.
