The Hotel Danieli is among the most revered locations for tourists because of it's enviable location and royal environs. The luxurious rooms are nothing short of royal and the staff ensure the comfort of each and every guest. The furnishings are grand: some rooms are decorated in Byzantine style, and others are less opulent. The hotel is also home to La Terrazza restaurant, which offers traditional Venetian and Mediterranean cuisine. An ideal destination for those who don't mind the astronomical rates for an indulgent stay in one of the most famous hotels around the globe.

My husband booked a weekend at The Danieli for my milestone birthday present. On the whole it was a magical holiday and the hotel lived up to many expectations, but fell short on service with a smile. As soon as we arrived we tried to book dinner at its famous rooftop La Terraza restaurant (the only one in the hotel) but were told it was fully booked for the whole weekend! No apology, no flexibility for accommodating residents. We dined out and returned to La Terazza for coffee and drinks, but were told that no drinks were served there unless you were dining - even though we were residents and by that time there were vacant tables and late diners were still being served after dinner drinks/coffee etc. The next day we asked the concierge what we should expect to pay for an hours return tour in a water taxi, and were advised the hotel could book this for us at a fixed price of 90 euros, so we booked. Sadly the tour only lasted 35 minutes and the driver demanded 100 euros! We complained to the hotel who agreed that was incorrect and that they would contact the taxi driver and obtain a suitable refund. Alas no refund materialised and we were met with a shrug of the shoulder when we asked about the outcome. Again, absolutely no apology. In our opinion The Daneili whilst resplendant in its decor is totally complacent in its personal service and on these grounds we would neither return nor recommend. The place we chose to eat when unable to book La Terazza was at The Londra Palace hotel a few yards away from The Danieli. Here we enjoyed a fabulous meal equal to the standard of La Terazza with welcoming and friendly service with a smile - and a lagoon view! If we return to Venice we'd opt to stay at The Londra Palace. Come on The Daneili, please do better!

05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserHello Everybody, \nI have been in Venice 3 times and all of them I stayed in Danielli. I don't know how you see it but it is worth it to me to spend something more in order to gain the experience to stay in beautiful places around the world. This is an exceptional place.Only the fact that this is a palace 600 years old and that everything to the "old" building is original I think it pays of. The location is perfect. You can go in all the famous important places of Venice but is good to know that you are 5min walk from your room!I had a canal view room which the view only paid off....It is sad to read reviews from people that are going in Europe in these unique spectacular places with all this history and art and they finally complain about "the room is small"...you were planing to leave there forever??? \nAnyway, I highly recomend this place to anybody that is willing to spend something more.Believe me is a fantastic place with INCREDIBLE FOOD!(try the risoto Danielli.....)The prices of the terrace restaurant is much better than the ugly turistic places in the canal believe me.
