Brave one of the most haunted cities in Europe this Halloween and take a tour of Edinburgh 's dark alleys and underground chambers. Fright Night in Sheffield is the biggest Halloween party in the UK taking place on 25 October. Join 38,000 freaks, spooks, goblins and ghosts for ghost tours, a ghost train, Victorian illusions, food stalls, kids' activities and more. Get creative and come in your creepiest costume for the fancy dress catwalk.

London Eye Halloween flights
From Saturday 24 October to Sunday 1 November the London Eye will be transformed into a gruesome grotto featuring a spooky forest and a bubbling bog. Two witches, one nasty, one nice, will be there to offer tricks and treats. Take the kids on the Tales of Two Witches Cruise, heed the cautionary tales of the mysterious Thames and hear dark stories of London 's riverside landmarks, towers and bridges.

Alnwick Castle, Northumberland
Alnwick Castle's no stranger to witches and wizards and starred as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films. Wear freakish fancy dress, carve pumpkins, hear ghostly stories, take a spooky walk after dark and join the family party. Look out for Harry Potter look-alikes, potion brewing workshops, puppet making and more. Events run from 25 October to 31 October.

Halloween punting and walking ghost tours, Cambridge
From 24-31 October, Scudamore's Halloween Ghost Tours will combine a Jack O'Lantern-lit punt along the College Backs with a guided walk to visit Cambridge 's most haunted places. Those brave enough to join the tour will be taken back into Cambridge 's dark and troubled past to hear of spooky sightings, macabre tales and tragic events.

JORVIK Viking Centre Halloween Party, York
There's not much scarier than a bunch of crazed Vikings! And there'll be plenty at JORVIK'S Halloween party on 31 October. Take the kids to York 's Viking experience and be swept back in time to 975 AD by the Viking ride. What better way to celebrate the scariest night of the year than staying in an ancient, spooky building?
