Queuing for more than half an hour for entry into the museum and then another half an hour for a very over-priced sandwich, made the MOMA experience less than happy. While we loved the new building and the collection (which we travelled especially from Brussels to see), the whole place smacked of elitism. The prices are very high (entrance, food, the shop)and the place seemed unwelcoming to anyone who is not going to spend a lot. The opening times are ridiculous. There is no reason why MOMA cannot open an hour earlier and close an hour later 7 days a week, given the phenomenal demand to visit it. This would help spread the entrance crush and effectively establish morning and afternoon sessions (it might also relieve pressure on the hopelessly inadequate catering facities). Other cities have occasional 24 hour opening for particularly popular exhibitions and MOMA should be more concerned to attract new visitors than make people feel as though they are doing them a favour by allowing them to come in. So, while we enjoyed the MOMA, it was a less satisfying visitor experience than the Met, which was as magnificent as ever

(Report Problem)This museum is closed until 2005, they are displaying some artwork at the Queens location "MoMA QNS" but dont expect to see any of the famous works there. Starry Night and most other valuables are in storage.

(Report Problem)Many New York museums are famous for their beauty, history, and even
bizzare attractions. The Museum of Modern Art is one museum that captures
all of these features. An Artist's heaven, it contains art of some of
the most abstract art known to man...
This is a museum that all
tourist should visit. It is part of the wonder of New York City, both
beautiful and disturbing...
A learning experience that should be
shared with all...
