My friend and I climbed the hill in 90 degree weather. It was hard work but so worth it for the view and the church at the top.

The place was beautiful and so were the views. Athens is gorgeous, but Athens just wouldn't have been Athens without this hill.

You can take the cable car to the top, but I also recommend a nice liesurely walk to the top. Stop at one of the bakeries along the way and grab a spanokopita or tyropita and stop and picnic in the park along the way. Fantastic views of the whole city. The chapel at the top is lovely and is the site of a major celebration the night of Easter that is awe inspiring.
