Overall

the night bazaar is like a manic souvineer shopping spree. if you have the time, go once or twice just to mill about and check out not only the merchandise, but also the other travellers purchasing really hideous stuff. watch someone elso try on a sequinned elephant vest; don't be the guy that actually buys one.
there are lots of excellent things to pick up, not to mention tons of good food. on the corner right before mcdonalds, sample the different flavors of rice flour treats: they look like little cellophane wrapped gummy triangles and are delicious; go down a bit further and hang a left to find a whole back area of hawkers and retaurants. excellent stuff. be brave and you will be rewarded.
