Relaxing
New Bern certainly offers a lot to the history buff. The town is clean and folks I met were very polite. The atmosphere is very relaxed and peaceful. On the flip side, I had a difficult time finding anything to do in the evenings and on Sunday as most stores were closed. This may be related to the time of year, (April). I don't know...but I would not have been surprised to see tumbleweeds in the historic district. The Sheraton hotel bar was crowded and Outback Steakhouse was hopping. Those seemed to be the main hangouts. I didn't get over to the Tryon Palace but I hear that is a great tour.

I really liked all the fresh water fishing and sailing that can be done. Your not to far from alantic beach either. Plenty of golfing. There is hardly any crime. I would consider this place very safe.
