My husband and I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of April for a 4-day weekend. It was our first time to San Franciscso and weren't sure where to stay...I'm SOOO glad we chose the King George! The staff is very friendly and was a huge help in coordinating tours of the area for us. The location is fantastic, right by Union Square and the trolley line to the Wharf. Thanks for a fantastic experience!! We loved San Fran and would gladly stay at the King George again!!!

Good location. Very central. Friendly staff and very good treatment when we got some slight problems during our stay. IŽll be back asap.

While the King George Hotel is very quaint and in a great location, I was very upset with the customer service. I could not sleep all night on Friday night as the noise from the alley below my room kept me up. When I mentioned this to the front desk agent, she shrugged her shoulders. Then I went to the tea service which they have between 2-5 on the weekends. I got there and asked a server who was watching TV if I should seat myself. He told me that their last seating was at 4:30. I went back up to my room, and my cellphone said that it was 4:33. Even if I was there asking him at 4:30 on the dot, it was just poor service. Then I called down to ask for a recommendation to order in since they don't have room service. The desk agent said, yeah, check in the phone book in your closet. Needless to say, I checked out early and filled out the customer service card, but have yet to get a call back from the hotel manager. I worked in a hotel for 4 years and know that this is not how hotels should operate.

A couple years ago I wanted to go to San Francisco -- it was kind of an impulse thing -- so I went online to look for hotels. I thought for sure I wouldn't be able to find a room on such short notice, but lo and behold, I could have my pick of rooms at the King George. In retrospect, I should have wondered why. At the time, the place was under construction, so many features were unavailable (such as breakfast, elevators, etc....) The rooms were smaller than my room at home, which is to say minuscule. Well, at least they were clean -- and there was a liquor store right down the street where you could get what passed for breakfast, if you had any money left after dodging all the homeless guys....
