Beautiful hotel, with a great location. It even has a pool! The restaurants were pricey, but if you can get a deal on the rate, the location is great, with a MUNI access just out the back door.

The Palace Hotel actually corners on Market Street and is in the heart of
San Francisco. Upon entry, you're greeted by a very sophisticated and
gorgeous lobby. The weekend we were here, there was an occasional viewing
of celebrities.
Our room was rich and tasteful and had a tremendous
bathroom, complete with all the amenities you hate to pack for travel. The
bedding was an incredibly high thread count and as soft as ever.
If
you're staying through a Sunday morning, spend a little more and stay
for their Sunday Brunch! It's the best I've ever had and easily
the best in town.

We stayed here for Valentine's Day/President's Day in 2004. It has a great downtown location, gorgeous lobby, and very opulent rooms syled in the old-world way. We usually stay in more 'hip' locations but this was a very nice change of pace and I would recommend it.

The Palace is not for those who want a true bargain in SF (but then, SF is
not a city for true bargain-hunters). For old-school luxury mixed in with a
historical pedigree, the Palace is hard to beat. It's a survivor of the
1906 earthquake and one of the oldest hotels in town. Of course, it's
been updated to include all the modern conveniences: this is a Starwood
Hotel, after all. The rooms are very attractive and comfortable, and the
location is wonderful. Right by Union Square shopping and Chinatown, as
well as SFMOMA. It was wonderful being able to walk back to the hotel
(instead of fighting traffic or braving public transportation) at the end
of a busy day.
All in all, I came to SF for the sights, not the
hotel. The Palace was perfectly lovely; it's not quite a 5-star hotel,
but it's a pretty nice place for the price!

The Palace Hotel bridges the old world to the modern city, the Palace recreates the elegance and glamour of 19th century high society, with its beautiful vaulted ceilings and original Austrian crystal chandeliers. A wonderful place to stay. Centrally located downtown and adjacent to the Financial District.

Creme de la creme of all hotels. This is a high class joint. It is an exceptional hotel with exceptional amenities. The opulence is evident by the lobby when one enters the hotel. The catagories of room extend upwards to suites costing thousands per night. This hotel is worth another visit. It is perfect for the consumer who wants more than what is average or even above average
