Excellent Stay

Recently refurbished with stylish up-to-date finish - modern / contemporary and very comfortable. Stayed in a 2 bedroom 'Beach Suite'. Staff simply couldn't have been more helpful or polite. Extensive beautifully maintained gardens leading down to a lovely beach - just an easy few minutes stroll. Cleanliness rates as probably the best of any 5 star hotel we have visited in Spain or indeed this country! Could improve on the variety and quality of food on the room service menu, but restaurant food and breakfast very good. Also needs to improve on English satellite TV stations offered! Will definitely re-visit.

Don't Waste Your Money

My husband and I spent four days at the Don Carlos and were very disappointed. It is extremely expensive, and unbelievably the cost of the room does not include a towel and chair next to the pool -- that's extra. The management was hostile and unhelpful. Save your money and stay at a hotel where they treat you better.

A bit disappointing

My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon here and were slightly disappointed. This is an older hotel with outdated decor and appliances (ancient hairdryer system). The beach is a bit of a walk through the grounds, though they are lovely and well-manicured. Once at the beach, you must pay for your chair, which I thought was cheap and tacky. Restaurant was good and the continental breakfast was excellent. The pool and bar area were lovely. However, the "downtown" area is quite far and cost us $25 cab fare one-way! I wouldn't recommend staying here unless you happen to get a great rate and are up for the extra costs involved.
