For a "Hotel" with a sea front location you would think that the management would make an effort to make this a place to return to. My room (114) had a tatty stained artex ceiling, falling wall paper and a fantastic view of some backstreet and a group of discarded beds. The bathroom shower did an excellent job at flooding the floor each time I used it and the tiniest hand basin was mostly concealed by a poorly located glass shelf that made using it almost impossible. On the good side the toilet did flush! The kettle had it's electrical switch missing and the T.V. gave you four channels of "snow" The last time I saw metal framed beds like that was in an Institution. The entire hotel looks as though what decorating had been done was attempted by the worst students on a youth training scheme as a project piece. The carpets appear to have absorbed all manner of food and dubious fluids in their time and a hint of pattern can be noticed between the large areas of black glossy staining. For the sake of your own sanity and good health, DO NOT use the down stairs toilets!!! Come back Luftwaffe and bomb the place.

We booked two rooms for the night of 13th October, one twin and one double. We were assigned room 315, we had no sooner gone in the door than we were back downstairs to reception 'We've just checked the room and we are not staying in there'. The staff never even commented, they just checked what else was available and gave us room 106. The room itself was slightly better. 315 had worn carpet, torn lino in the bathroom, covered in splashes of dried paint gone brown, the sink and bath were just so old they had got to the stage where no amount of cleaning would do, bath plug missing. Really filthy windows that you couldn't see out of. Apart from that they had a private function that night which we were not informed of when we booked. At 1.30 am I rung up reception to find out what time it finished, licence is until 3am. It was so loud you could hear every word of every song and even the guests talking! Really, do not stay here, it will ruin your view of Brighton.

I stayed in this hotel for one week in June 2007 and, while I thought there was a lot of room for improvement, did not find my stay unbearable. The (foreign) Reception staff were always pleasant and polite. The entire building seemed to belong to yester-year and hallways and passages were at times narrow and carpets etc had seen better days. My single room was massive and contained two beds and some old fashioned furniture but was clean. The shower/toilet again was a bit basic but easy to live with for just a week. I had a problem with the room not being serviced but Reception explained their "3 day policy". A couple of days I had the buffet breakfast which was adequate but I ate out when wanting the "full english". This hotel offered very cheap rates - the cheapest of all I researched - and was the only one having availability for my dates. I would return again. Had I paid a lot of money I would have expected better but, as I say, it really was dirt cheap, so I am satisfied with what I got.

We stayed in this hotel for one night and that was enough!!! the hotel had no security, staff couldnt speak english and everything fell apart in the room!! the shower actually was spilling water all over the side we had to get one of us to hold the curtain while we showered!!! then it actually came off the wall altogther!! As we went to check out the beds one duvet had stains all over it and we refused to sleep on it untill we got another one!! i would definatley not recommend this hotel to anyone the only good thing about it was the location, it was close to all bars and nightlife!

If you listen to no other advise this year, do not stay in this hotel. Unless of course you have a penchant for stained sheets, mouldy showers and dirty carpets. In addition to this the landlord was repeatedly rude to us all and the breakfast was cold and congealed. Brighton is gorgeous but this "hotel" has no place there.

This hotel is in an ideal location, That is the best part of the stay. As for the hotel never again. service not great hallways dirty no security up to rooms. If booking this hotel PLEASE do not go by the pictures. The hotel i would say is more like a Hostel (Saw better hostels while out sightseeing). I would not advise staying here.
