I would say this is by far my favorite NY W Hotel. The location is fabulous and the staff is friendly. The bar downstairs on the ground floor is good (Underbar downstairs is slightly better) and the restaurant is great. Rooms / decor is typical W. I would recommend this hotel.

Renovate a perfectly located beaux-arts building on the edge of the Village, trick out the rooms with feathery comforters and fine down pillows, trendy colors, and comfortably offbeat furnishings. Add a sumptuous lobby lounge, a subterranean supper club, and relatively responsive service from buff bellhops in black t-shirts. A big wooden writing desk where you can connect and park a laptop. Great street views. Excellent coffee around the corner on Irving Place. Don't expect quiet. Welcome to lower Manhattan.

If you've done Times Square and want to do new york city away from all the touristy location, take this hotel on your next stay. The location is superb and central to almost everything in walking distance. Union square subway station is a 2 min walk. It's a location where you'll see a lot of locals who live around the area. You won't get board here. Rooms at this hotel are pretty nice too. Very classy and they have lots of rooms with an unobstructed view of Union Square. Bed are heavenly - in accordance to the starwood brand.

This was my first stay at a W Hotel and I found it to be grossly overrated. I was supposed to stay at W Hotel Times Square with a confirmed and pre paid and guaranteed reservation but they overbooked the hotel and sent me to Union Square. The location was good. The room was tiny. There were no slippers. The food was poor. The service was ABYSMAL! I asked for slippers and some other things more than 4 times in a 3 day stay and nobody ever did anything for me. Noisy too. Cramped. Elevators don't work. A fancy facade on an old building. Without a doubt, the most overrated hotel I've ever stayed at as measured by the gap between the promise and the experience.

This hotel is located literally in the middle of Union Square. Union Square is home to some of the most diversity in all of NYC. This hotel is trendy, with almost a trendy lounge/bar atmoshphere. Located in the heart of the East Village, my favorite neighborhood in the city, this hotel is close to everything. It is right between the east/west villages which makes it a good location to stay and walk to many areas. Also convenient walk to NYU

The W New York Union Square bridges the gap between old and new. The W Union Square combines the charm of the historic building with a contemporary touch. The beautiful park outside extends into the warm Living Room that welcomed us. We loved the feather bed with goose down comforters and pillows beckons you to a peacful night sleep. The hotel is all about service and amenities. Whatever you want. Whenever you want it. Terrific service from the friendly staff.
