Upon arrival, they checked us in early as we were a smoking room. Upon going into the bathroom to take a shower though we realised the paint was peeling from the ceiling and was black. The bedroom had dirty yellow carpets and the ceiling had a crack from one side to the other. We decided to leave our clothes in suitcase and call reception. They sent concierge up to have a look and he said he would get the duty manager who offered us a room next door that was just as abd, the floor was even dirtier. Even though they tried to make us stay by giving us slippers and a bath robe, which we didnt have in the other room. We sat for a bit and decided that this 5star hotel wasnt good enough. So we went downstairs and said we wanted to check out. They gave us the excuse, as we were in a smoking room and the that the smoking rooms are on the 9th floor, that these had not been reefurbished yet. Bet they didnt expect two young girls to kick up a fuss. Who were they to know we hadnt been to a 5star hotel before or that we didnt know what we were getting for our money or that we werent filthy rich or had rich families or Daddies. That shouldnt matter, they should treat us as if we are valued customers and not give us the excuse that floor hasnt been refurbished yet. We checked out and checked into Malmaison.

My wife and I recently spent a Birthday weekend at the Belfast Hilton. Its a great place for a City Break. Situated at the east end of Belfast City Centre with views overlooking the River Lagan, this 5 Star hotel will spoil you. Having advised that it was a Birthday trip the friendly staff at Reception sent up a bottle of wine and a selection of fruit to our immaculate room. The hotel is 12 years old but shows no sign od fading around the edges. The beds are huge and the rooms very comfortably furnished, with huge soft towels. The Sonoma restaurant has great views at night over the river and the menu won't frighten even the most timid eater. A gym, pool, jacuzzi, sauna & steam room are all available to guests .... use them. The staff are the Hiltons strong point, while maintaining a very high standard in the hotel, they are more than helpful and friendly. The cold efficiency of a multinational chain has been replaced by local hospitality. They were able to provide local info on places to eat, drink and visit, just what we needed. All in all, exellent value for money and surprisingly good value at those Leisure Break rates. We'll be back !!!!
Great for: Romance, Nightlife, Beds, Spa

The hilton is the only 5 star hotel in belfast and most of the time
it's cheaper that the other 4 star hotels, you can get great weekend
deals for £94.50 per room per night for two sharing with dinner on the
first night and a Breakfast buffet that will blow you away. the staff are
so friendly and are very genuine not stuck up like some hotels. apart from
the amazing breakfast the views from both sides of the hotel over the lagan
and over the sprawling city are beautiful. i'd recommend that extra few
pound rather than a b&B it's well worth it, Hilton also have a full
gym Swimming pool sauna steam room and jacuzzi. it right beside the train
station and great for being close but not too close to all the night life
and sure £3 in a taxi will bring you almost anywhere thats worth while
going.
A must try at least once experience
