When I think of the Hotel Monaco, a smile lights up my face. This refined hotel is romantic and exquisite. An element of glamor graces its Deco interior. There is an atomsphere of luxury that is not ostentatious or fussy. This is not a cookie-cutter chain hotel: it has an European sensibility but with a freshness that soothes the tired traveller. I hope you get a chance to stay at my favorite hotel.

I've stayed at the Hotel Monaco SF so I am not stranger to Monaco
success. i didnt actually stay at the Monaco Chicago but I actually visited
a friend here.
The lobby and hallways do not suggest anything
extraordinary about this hotel unlike the Monaco SF, until I went inside
the room. The décor of the room is not for the faint-hearted; bold colours
and design make this hotel stand out from any other, and makes you feel
like you’re no longer in Chicago. I'm a sucker for bathrooms and this
one was just SO different that I had to love it. I give this hotel an extra
star for trying to be different and succeeding at it. As usual, the staff
was SUPER attentive. Location is good - but watch out for parking.
I
didnt pay for this hotel room so I cant say much about price. Make sure you
check out what other people say about price. I think I would pay about
80-110 for this room, which is pretty considering I usually dont pay more
than 60 for a room in chicago.

This hotel is right near the loop, off the river. It is right near an el stop so I would recommend flying into Midway and taking the el if you don't have a lot of luggage (it really is easy - and so much cheaper!). The staff is friendly and the rooms are nice. Convenient for business travellers.

I stayed at the Hotel Monaco for a business trip and was pleasantly surprised by the great location, reasonable rates and the friendly service. The fish bowl was a bit over the top as was the design of the room (strange shapes and lots of striped patterns) but for the money, this hotel is a gem in the loop. Walking distance to all the sites and sounds of Chicago and a pleasant place to stay. Good internet access as well.

Smaller and cosier than the typical chain hotel, it's the personal touches--including an optional in-room goldfish--that makes the Monaco so special. Great location just across the river from the Miracle Mile, an easy walk. The quality of the room and service are everything you would expect from an upper-echelon business hotel, but the quirky, homey touches make it a standout.

I love staying at unique hotels that are hot, trendy, and fun, so when I
read about the Hotel Monaco, I knew I had to check it out. The Hotel Monaco
completely lived up to my expectations. The staff was very friendly and
helpful, my room was hip and stylishly furnished, and they left a lottery
ticket instead of a boring mint on my pillow when they turned my room down
at night (sadly, not a winner). You can even check out a pet goldfish for
your room when you check in (I passed). They stock Aveda products in the
bathroom (very nice), and have a complimentary wine reception from 5-7 p.m.
(very, very nice).
The prices are very reasonable for a hotel this
fun and stylish! I got my room for $129. Next time I come, I plan to bring
my bf and check out one of their fun packages like the "ooh baby
baby." What a great place!

The Hotel Monaco with it's sensually rich decor provides the allusion of seducing its guests with a sense of escape to faraway places while pampering them in sheer comfort. We found our guestroom spacious and well-appointed.

This was my first (and potentially) only trip to this part of the country. Before this trip I had no desire to venture into this part of the world. I went with my mom to watch a friend play pro-football. Because of the wonderful experience at Hotel Monaco, we may return someday. My mom's convinced we should bring everyone to visit. I specially requested a view-room to make my stay with my elderly mother something she would enjoy & remember - this was our first trip together since my adolescence. The view of the river was magnificent! (unfortunately, Trump is planning on ruining it with tearing down across the river & rebuiling bigger & ugly. unsure when). The surrounding neighborhood is probably not ok after dark, but passable during the day to walk around if you stay on major streets. As w/ all cities, watch yer back. The architecture of the area is remarkable! trolley tours of the city is just 2 blocks (or so) away. Anything you want to eat is w/in walking distance. Very convenient location for taking in the flavor of Chicago. Cab faires were reasonable. The service at the Monaco was thoughful, thorough, and friendly. The event that set the trip aprt the most was...my mother (a small town girl) decided on her own to wait outside the front door for the car after dark (late November, '03). Two large, intimidating Monaco doormen noticed this immediately and, wordlessly, went outside into the winter cold and stood with her to ward off any harm (while I was inside talking to the concierge)!! This was definately a place where the service is inately focused on the safety & experience of the guest. STAY HERE!
