lovely old town san diego

four stars

The tour and museums are great. A free family experience. But some of the history parts can be hard to find. check the free posted maps or the docent center at one end of the grass square (free tours too!) . after your day relax with a fine cigar from Racine and Laramie's, or a margarita from Berta's. Sit back and enjoy your purchases from the candy store, the dry goods store, the game store....

Shops & Food

four stars

It seems to me that Old Town is more about shops & food. Not that that's a bad thing :-) - but aside from the signs on the buildings, I didn't see as much historical stuff as I would've liked.

We had some great food here (can't remember the restaurant's name - but I could find it again!) and checked out a lot of varied & interesting stuff in the stores. I think we came too late for the regularly scheduled live entertainment. Oh well. Good place to find things to bring back to people who ask you go get them something while you're in SD....
