If you plan to go to Chamonix for skiing, be prepared for a couple of things. First, the trails are mostly Blk and Red, not meant for Intermediates or Beginners. Also, there are a lot of Brits there, so you will hear mostly English, not French. And lastly, it is Expensive. A meal anywhere, expect McDees will cost you about 20 Euros easy, and the Beers are anywhere from 5 to 7 Euros. Yes it is crowed, and not much of a village atmosphere, more like a little city. Oh, one more thing, DO NOT waste your money on the ESF ski school, they are by far the worst instructors I have ever encountered, and I have skied in over 7 resorts. If you are looking for a bit of cozy village, try a smaller resort. Cheers
