A great city, not sufficiently appreciated. A real gem to be discovered.

(Report Problem)Leipzig is a dump. The service I got everywhere was absolutely awful. The local people are miserable and have no charm at all - they never, ever smile!!! The architecture in the centre is completely boring. Leipzig reminded me of a northern english city like Leeds but without the nice people or the nice victorian architecture. In Germany, I much preferred my time in Munich, Berlin and Nuremberg, all of which are much more tourist friendly and cosmopolitan.

(Report Problem)Simply, Leipzig is one of the most interesting and exciting cities in central Europe, and perhaps in all of Europe. Many cities in Europe are "finished" growing, but the atmosphere of Leipzig is one of great passion, optimism and intelligent development for it's bright furture. Leipzig's confidence and history is well known with it's academics, publishing, music, and it's countless fairs. It offers much to both visitors and residents alike. Vast green parks and woods ring the city, while companys such as BMW, Porshe, DHL, have decided to make it home. World Cup in 2006 also makes for an exciting prospect. A lovely city and history with a tangible sense that many great days are still apart of this wonderful place.

(Report Problem)Please don't be put off by the negative remarks of that seemingly ingnorant and unappreciative person. If you want the commercialism of America then stay home. With that said, I, as an American, loved this city. It was charming, quite, rich with history, architechurally beautiful, and the people were, like most Germans, friendly when approached. I was all over Germany and this city was a highlight. It takes maybe a day or two to see it all. If you want the museums and touristy stuff then go to Berlin which is only a couple of hours away. In conclusion, I say do your research and go without expectations. Remove yourself from the world you came from and appreciate the worlds your discovering. Neill Venice, CA and Detroit, MI

(Report Problem)Leipzig was extremely boring. We came for 4 days and after 2 days were done with visiting all sites and wanted to go back home, but it was too expensive to change reservations for our plane tickets. The museums in Leipzig are ugly and there are not many of them. They are very old fashioned. The local zoo was horrible: very dirty and we were sorry the animals have to live in such bad conditions there. The only nice things there were 2 Indian restaurants, that served wonderful dishes.

(Report Problem)I live here in Leipzig and it is fantastic! The city is beautiful with an intensly interesting history. Although the people are more standoffish than their southern German counterparts, they are very friendly and accomodating. This is a city of Goethe, and a city of beautiful music; Mendelssohn and Bach. Short day trips to cities such as Dresden and Weimar are also well worth the train fare.
