Chania - it's a dream!

Fabulous old town and beautiful Venetian harbour with little Greek fishing boats bobbing alongside luxury yachts. Good choice of tavernas and restaurants (the best incidentally is an Italian called Kariatis). We stayed at the hotel Casa Delfino which was located in the heart of the old town which we found delightful. Do hire a car and go up into the local villages, the scenery is spectacular particularly in the spring with the lovely colourful spring flowers blowing in the Cretan breeze, alongside the vast olive groves and vineyards. We cast our eyes on the oldest olive tree in the world and later as we swam in the clear blue waters we gazed in amazement at the wonderful snowcapped mountains (just 30km inland). We were very impressed with everything Chania had to offer - it really was a dream!

Top stuff!

Top destination. The prettiest city in Crete with great atmosphere. Stayed at hotel porto Veneziano (best western) VERY good . Avoid hotel amfitriti! Swim at Falasarna one of the best beaches in Europe. The Samaria gorge is a breathtaking experience, HIGHLY recommended. Loads to discover. Cant wait to go back!!!

" Fantastic " a reall paradise

I'm going to Chania from 1992, and from since 1994 we are staying at Mike's Hotel & Apartments , and have returned 2-3 times each year at various times of the year. what can i say apart from they are the best well maintained and serviced apts i have been to and the owners and staff are the most polite and friendly people you would care to meet, nothing is to much trouble and if they dont have something you want they will endeavour to get it to make sure you have a great time. the home cooked food at mike's hotel which is all traditional cretan food is prepared by helena the owner wife and is delivered to your table by excellent staff and always with most politeness and good manner. for me i will never find a place that will match the location and character of mike's apts and i will never find the service that i have recieved for the last 11 years take my word for it that this is an oustanding place to stay and you will not regret booking (you can also book direct with the owners son manos www.hotel-mike.com who will always reply to any emails he receives of you would like anymore info from myself dont hesitate to contact me on lord.mike@virgin.net i also have many pictures of the surrounding locations which im sure will tempt you to try this location .
