Kalamata is a lovely town located on the sea and a great location for a holiday anytime of the year. Kalamata beach is considered one of the best in the area - long stretch of sandy/pebbly beach with a choice of places to stop and swim. During the summer season the beach is buzzing with summer life - people bathing, eating and enjoying water sports. There is a choice of places to stay from inexpensive B&B to the more luxury hotels such as Filoxenia and the Elite. Eating out is no problem since the main town has plenty of eating places as well as the main seafront and the Marina. Nightlife is good too although I personally miss the era of Disco! Places of interest - galore! Mani is just a 45-minute drive away from Kalamata and then there are all the other places of interest to visit in the county of Messinia so a maximux 2 hour drive can take you to other coastline, up to the mountains or in to the villages further in land.
Great for: Beaches, Hiking/Camping, History/Culture, Theatre/Music, Nightlife, Family Holidays

(Report Problem)It is an area next to the sea and next to the mountain of Taigetos as well. I suggets U stay in Kalamata, preferrably right next to the sea. Things U can do is swimming, walking in the old castle and old city, fishing and travelling all aroung southern Peloponissos.
