(Report Problem)I've been going down to Panajachel for 18yrs. The people are wonderful and caring, sincerely. I've traveled quite a bit, but prefer the tranquaility of the Lake. The food is affordable, and the houseing the same. The most important thing are the natives. These Indians are some of the last multi-creative, weaving, painting, beading, wood-craving of their generation and the generations before them. Right around the corner you'll see a CosCo up and all the American Dreams coming true for the Guatemalan people, but not the Indians. As we did here, we will do there. It looks like American, without the crime rate. Yes, the Americans do talk about Guatemala and it's on our, ADVISORY LIST OF COUNTRIES NOT TO VISIT. Largest crime is kidnapping of their own weathly government officals, OR THEIR MAIDS. If you want to talk about crime, then when you get back into the US turn on the TV. Only then do you see some of the worse crimes against another in the world. Of course this does not count the war. In so far as sexual crimes, brutal crimes, just the death rate itself in our streets.........Always makes me want to go back to Guatemala, where every year or so you might hear about a rape. That would be political, not because they like to rape people. I'm sorry I don't think I was suppose to be this expresive (sp?)..........only one
